      Comments about Sugarpine Boot:

The best fitting boots I have ever had. I would say they run a tiny bit smaller than other brands, I usually wear a 10-1/2 or 11 narrow and these in 11 B fit perfect, I usually wear them with thicker socks though. I got them when I cracked a bone in my ankle and I wore them every day this winter in snow and ice. They didn't need breaking in and they have great arch support. Now I wear them for casual hiking and they are very comfortable. Plus they are very cute in purple and I get a lot of complements on them.

        Comments about Sugarpine Boot:

I bought these boots to wear on the 96 mile West Highland Way in Scotland. I wore them for over a year on short hikes and absolutely loved them. They needed no break-in. They are exceptionally light and comfortable and very grippy on slabs of rock. My only negative is that on this particular hike, with a lot of rough Stoney gravel and small rocks to walk over, the soles of my feet were very sore after a 13 -15 mile walk. I could feel all the stones underneath even though I am carrying only a light daypack. I might buy the next one up, the Montara, in hopes that it will provide more stiff cushion for the soles of the feet. Great ankle support, though!

        Comments about Sugarpine Boot:

My test run was a one night 10 mile RT out-and-back in the rugged Sierras carrying a 21 lb pack. Hiked from 6000 up to 8300 feet ele at temps from 30-65 degrees. My feet were warm the whole time -even early in the am (was surprised at that.) Crossed 4 streams - one significant: EXCELLENT traction on icy/wet crossings! Hiked in 2-3" deep mud, puddles, and rocky terrain throughout the trip and I don't even need to wash them off - the mud sluiced off before I even got to the car.

Great ankle support - the stability of switching from a trail runner to a boot really increased my range. I typically get knee pain within 2 miles of a decent. I was at just over mile 4 when I got knee soreness and I had punished my knees much more than usual (hopping off rocks, twisting, more weight than usual.) I have one other pair of boots, but they are so heavy that I get worse knee pain than trail runners or the new Sugarpine.

My one negative is a pressure point on the front of both my ankles from the tongue's fold. The material is quite stiff. I found that if I twist the tongue to one side it eliminates the pressure point. Overall: LOVE these boots!

FYI: I just bought these this week and have put in 15 miles so far.
